What was your first Ibiza? For more than three decades, millions of drivers have owned an Ibiza. Maybe it was their first car, with which they made their first journey to and from university; perhaps it is still the family car today. After four generations and more than 5.4 million cars sold, the new SEAT Ibiza comes loaded with the latest technology features, outstanding dynamics, and an impressive improvement in interior space and comfort. The Spanish brand’s most iconic model has all-new styling with the same youthful, functional, sporty and comfortable spirit as always. Its fresh design reflects SEAT’s distinctive DNA but with an edgier, sportier design, featuring more sculpted, accentuated, exciting and streamlined surfaces. The fifth generation of the SEAT Ibiza made its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show, pre-sales already started and first cars will be delivered in June 2017.
“SEAT is in a phase of consolidation and growth and we are working to become one of the most dynamic organizations in our industry,” says Luca de Meo, Chairman of the Executive Committee of SEAT, S.A. The company obtained the best financial results in its history in 2016 with an operating profit of 143 million euros and profit after tax before extraordinary items totalling 232 million euros.
“The new SEAT Ibiza will make a great leap forward for the brand and it is bringing about a turning point in the segment”. This is another step forward in the biggest product offensive ever carried out by SEAT. At the beginning came the launch of the first SUV of the brand, the Ateca, followed by the updated Leon. Now it’s the new Ibiza’s turn, completing the reinforcement of the three main pillars of the brand.
New models are still yet to come, such as the compact crossover, the Arona, in the second half of 2017, and a new 5 and 7-seater SUV that will be positioned one segment above the Ateca and will reach dealerships in 2018.The launch of the Ibiza opens a very special year for SEAT, in commercial terms as well. The company has entered its fifth consecutive year of increased sales after posting a 13.6% growth in the first two months of the year.
The new SEAT Ibiza is a completely new model that has been created with very ambitious goals in mind: To go a major step ahead in safety, design, performance and comfort. This huge advance in quality was achieved thanks to the new MQB A0 modular platform. The new SEAT Ibiza is the Volkswagen Group’s first model to use this platform, highlighting SEAT’s importance within the Group and offering countless advantages.
Launched in 1984 for the first time, the Ibiza has become an icon of SEAT. This car has been around the longest in the history of the brand and is its top-selling model, with over 5.4 million units sold. The Ibiza is one of the three pillars of the company, together with the Leon and Ateca, on which SEAT relies to continue building the success of the company in the future.
A decisive model
The fifth generation of the SEAT Ibiza has been developed in Barcelona and is a decisive step forward in the future of SEAT. Firstly, because it demonstrates the Volkswagen Group’s latest technology, the MQB-A0 platform (Modular Quer Baukasten) which shows the importance of the SEAT brand within the Volkswagen Group, as this new platform will be featured for the first time in this segment. And secondly, because it comes full to the brim with the most advanced technology, spectacular dynamism and a notable increase in interior space. This means a completely new model while, as always, it keeps its young spirit, dynamism, functionality and comfort. To achieve this, it gets a new, fresh and sporty design, reflecting SEAT’s unmistakable DNA. The surface language has been accentuated even more in a way that gives a more sculptured, exciting and aerodynamic look.
