Every great project has a great team behind it, and the CUPRA Tavascan is a testament to this. The dedication and drive of countless employees have culminated in making the brand’s dream come true. Among those involved are Clara Soto, Project Steering for CUPRA Tavascan (Purchasing), and Eden Ros, CUPRA R&D Project Planning Leader, who were working on the project in China, where CUPRA’s fully electric SUV is being manufactured. Now that they’re back in Spain, they’ve had the opportunity to test drive the car that is part of the most important project of their professional careers.

An emotional SUV. Clara is the first to get behind the wheel of the CUPRA Tavascan, and her reaction when she starts the electric motor and presses the accelerator is one of satisfaction, knowing that the work she and the whole team have put in has paid off in spades: “I’m proud to have done my bit for this disruptive project, and even more so now that I’m finally driving the car” she admits. Clara was the link between the purchasing department in China and the team that managed the project in Martorell, complying with all established deadlines and targets.

Eden, meanwhile, had an emotional first contact with the CUPRA Tavascan: “I’m getting goosebumps. Knowing that our hard work and dedication have resulted in bringing this product to fruition is truly remarkable. It’s great to drive, a real pleasure” he explains. He didn’t have an easy time in China. He arrived in 2019 and soon after went through the COVID-19 pandemic with all its consequences, especially in a country where the measures were very restrictive. Even so, he was able to cope with the setbacks to help with the organisation of employees, as well as overseeing different phases of the project.

CUPRA DNA. They both followed the evolution of the CUPRA Tavascan closely, but until now had never had the chance to experience its high performance for themselves. Eden is quick to point out that “I find the car’s response, acceleration, and power impressive, as well as its range of almost 600 km”, while Clara emphasises “how comfortable it is to drive and how smoothly it handles corners.” As for the car’s interior, they both highlight the 15-inch screen, the quality of the finishes and agree that “the design of the central spine is striking. It’s very different from any other car and instantly makes you feel like you’re in a CUPRA when you get inside” says Clara. It’s a perfect balance of sportiness and performance that reinforces the brand’s DNA.

An electric future. The first hero of the new era is a promising trailblazer for the brand’s electric transformation. Clara seconds this idea, explaining how “we’re taking more and more important steps towards electrification, as this model demonstrates, and it will be a pillar of our strategy. The CUPRA Tavascan is an exponential impulse to continue creating emotional cars that break with convention.” Eden concludes that “at CUPRA we believe in what we do, and I'm sure we will achieve other dreams like this one.”
