SEAT S.A. held the “Cursa Be the Impulse 2024” charity race at its Martorell facilities on Sunday 6 October, with nearly 5,700 participants, including company employees, family members and friends. Thanks to contributions from the runners and a charity raffle, more than €29,500 was raised, which was supplemented by a direct donation of €49,500 from SEAT S.A. The funds raised, which totalled more than €79,000, will be entirely allocated to the #SumapelRaval project of the Tot Raval Foundation, for the training of professionals and the creation of four multisensory rooms in the Barcelona’s Raval neighbourhood for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders.

"Five years since its last edition, we are proud to resume this initiative, that combines sport and solidarity. On this occasion, we are pleased to collaborate with the Tot Raval Foundation on a project like #SumapelRaval to offer opportunities to children and young people from a Barcelona neighbourhood that has inspired one of our future models: the CUPRA Raval. This event not only reinforces our values, but also contributes to strengthening the bond between all of us who are part of SEAT S.A,” said Markus Haupt, Executive Vice-President for Production and Logistics at SEAT S.A.

The “Cursa Be the Impulse 2024” race featured two routes of 7 and 10 kilometres each inside the workshops of the Martorell factory, as well as a Fast Line VZ5 100-metre sprint race. For the youngest runners, a 1,000-metre race, the Raval Kids Run, was organised. The event offered a wide variety of fun and recreational activities, as well as the presence of members of the SEAT S.A. Executive Committee, who were in charge of presenting the prizes to the winners of each category, and to the most participative team.

Commitment to the Tot Raval Foundation for social inclusion

The #SumapelRaval project, led by the Tot Raval Foundation and supported by SEAT S.A., encourages social inclusion of children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, dyslexia and ADHD, through the creation of multisensory rooms. These facilities, located in open centres in the Raval neighbourhood of Barcelona, are designed to offer a safe and adapted environment for the learning and emotional well-being of young people, providing them with educational opportunities tailored to their sensory needs.

"The collaboration of SEAT S.A. and all the participants in the “Cursa Be the Impulse 2024” charity race allows us to strengthen support for the neighbourhood's educational spaces that participate in the NESE Commission of the Raval Community Education Group. The funds raised will be allocated to professional training and the adaptation of spaces in the neighbourhood’s open centres to continue offering neurodiverse children and adolescents the support they need to fully develop. Thanks to this donation, we will be able to move forward in the creation of multisensory environments that will improve their learning and growth opportunities," added Jordi Farrés, President of the Tot Raval Foundation.

This organisation, active in Barcelona's Raval neighbourhood since 2002, works to foster social cohesion, coexistence and improve the quality of life of its residents. In response to the economic difficulties aggravated by the Covid-19 crisis, the foundation launched the #SumapelRaval project, which raises funds and donations to support families in vulnerable situations. Since 2023, this initiative has also promoted community projects improving the well-being of the neighbourhood. With the “Cursa Be the Impulse 2024” charity race, SEAT S.A. supports social and community development by collaborating with projects that promote equal opportunities and respect for diversity.
