CASA SEAT is kicking off the summer season with a June agenda packed with musical events. To mark its fourth anniversary, the space will be holding its first-ever festival on the 15th, “CASA SEAT Fest”, a day that will bring together artists from different musical genres from noon until after midnight.

“CASA SEAT Fest” is a show of appreciation to Barcelona and its citizens for CASA SEAT’s four years of intense activity. The venue has become a meeting point in Barcelona since it opened and has contributed to the promotion of talent and cultural diversity.

The line-up of artists performing at the festival features musicians from a wide variety of musical genres and will be divided into three time slots. From noon until 3 pm, the “CASA SEAT Fest” stage will feature electronic music group OBK, urban music singer Boye and electronic pop artist Mira Paula. Later in the evening, from 5 pm to 9 pm, the spotlights will be shared by Catalan pop and trap singers Dani6ix & IZZKID, indie pop musicians Hey Kid and Maren and R&B, pop and electronic singer Dora. At night, from 11 pm onward, the festival will be closed by some of the most renowned DJs of Barcelona’s nightlife, including Cucut & Arnau Obiols, Maria Satine and DJ Adrià.

CASA SEAT overflows with classical, indie and pop music

The music-themed month begins on the first of June with a recital by pianist Víctor Braojos. The musician will be performing two emblematic compositions, Escenas Románticas, one of the most intimate pieces by Enric Granados, and one of the last sonatas written by Franz Schubert before he died at the age of 31.

On the morning of the 8th, the Fließen Duo will perform a saxophone and piano recital in the auditorium. Romance Op. 23 by Amy Beach, Sonata Op. 19 by Paul Creston and A Homage to Lorca by Joan Albert Amargós will be some of the pieces performed by pianist Xavier Ricarte and saxophonist Maria Torres Melgares. Melgares has received more than twenty international awards, and won the second edition of ImpulsACIMC, a competition that recognises young performers of classical music in Catalonia.

In the afternoon, Cor NovAura will perform as part of the Festival Simfonic, a programme of more than 100 simultaneous free concerts in landmark venues around Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. The ensemble of 15 female voices will perform a repertoire of songs related to nature, dreams, water and dance, such as “Dancing Queen” by ABBA and “Agua” by Jarabe de Palo, among others.

On the 19th, Spanish indie rock band Love of Lesbian is giving a concert at CASA SEAT. After three years without any new recordings, last April the band released a new single with Rigoberta Bandini, “Contradicción”, a taster from their upcoming new album, Ejército de Salvación, which is scheduled for release on 11 October. Since the band formed 1997, four of their albums went gold - 1999, La noche eterna. Los días no vividos, El Poeta Halley and Viaje Épico Hacia la Nada. They’ve also performed on stages and at festivals in Spain, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina, among others.

Another artist visiting CASA SEAT is Paula Koops, who will be presenting her first EP, La Novia del Año, on the ground floor on the 22nd. Paula has been in the music industry for little more than a year, but this young singer-songwriter has positioned herself as a rising star of the new wave of Spanish pop music, with more than 500,000 listeners on digital platforms. Koops has a characteristic, personal style that nostalgically recalls a fusion of the 2000s with current musical trends.

On the 27th, Operación Triunfo 2020 winning contestant NIA will give her first concert in Barcelona this year at CASA SEAT. Hailing from the Canary Islands, Nia released her first studio album in 2023, PaloSanto, a work that explores Latin sounds such as salsa, mambo, bolero and reggaeton, and which features collaborations with Antonio Carmona, Maria Peláe and Nyno Vargas.

To round off the month, on the 29th singer, actor and composer Víctor Arbelo will present his second studio album, El club de la idiotez, released in March this year. Characterised by a pop sound with electronic influences, his latest release addresses themes such as love without prejudice, mental health and the visibility of the LGTBIQ+ community.

Comic relief

Comedy makes its way once again onto CASA SEAT’s monthly agenda. On 4 June the space will host the recording of the second season’s final episode of the podcast Llego tarde tía. After discussing hobbies, popularity and interviewing several music stars, its hosts Eric Serrano and Helena Cortés promise to wrap up the season with personal accounts, surrealism, comedy and exclusive content.

On the 21st, a new edition of the CASA SEAT Comedy stand-up takes place with comedians Enzo Vizcaíno, Vanessa Valero and Arnau Garcia. Vizcaíno, a comedian and scriptwriter, has worked for TV programmes such as TV3’s Està Passant and Polònia and has collaborated with El Mundo Today and Movistar Plus+’s Late Motiv, among others.  As for Valero, he hosts the podcast Overs discovers, runs his own open mic Grotshow and has his own stand-up show, Lokiu. Finally, Garcia is known for his interview section on the TV3 programme APM? and for his podcast Nueva normalidad.
