CASA SEAT is gearing up for October with a cultural agenda that’s full of activities highlighting music, technology, entrepreneurship and culture, as well as events that put a special focus on the city.
A month of musical encounters
CASA SEAT is beginning the month of October with a new edition of Moments estel·lars, with an emphasis this time on Barcelona’s major musical institutions. Joan Oller, Managing Director of the Palau de la Música Catalana, and Robert Brufau, Director of L’Auditori, will be on hand to analyse the key role played by these institutions in positioning the city as an international musical benchmark. The session will be moderated by journalist Toni Aira.
On 21 October, the young flamenco pianist Andrés Barrios is featuring in the show Cultura Urbana: Festival Ciutat Flamenco. The concert fuses traditional flamenco with contemporary and global aspects, showing how music can unite past and present. The performance will also include David Domínguez on percussion.
In addition, CASA SEAT will be the backdrop for two outstanding events on the urban music scene. On 23 October, LOS40 Stage is programming an interview and showcase performance with emerging artist Mama Dousha, while on 24 October, the Secret Shows: Nits de Barcelona cycle will offer an evening of live music with a touch of mystery, as the name of the artist will be kept under wraps until shortly before the event.
Key dialogues at the heart of Barcelona
CASA SEAT is the meeting point for business and technology debate this October, offering a platform to explore crucial issues such as cybersecurity and entrepreneurship.
On 8 October, the space will be hosting a new meeting of Diàlegs UPCArts: Ciberseguridad, featuring the participation of experts such as Mónica Espinosa, from the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia, and Selva Orejón, CEO of OnBranding, to discuss how to protect our digital lives in an increasingly connected world. The panel will be moderated by Montse Guàrdia, President of the Social Council of the UPC.
On 14 October, Emprendedores magazine is organising a new session of ‘Yo monté un empresón desde cero’ (Building a megacompany from scratch), where prominent business leaders will share their success stories and tips for entrepreneurship. The speakers include Miquel Antolín (Freshly Cosmetics), Núria Vilanova (Atrevia), Bernat Ripoll (Holded) and Leif Barrera (Bit2Me), moderated by Emprendedores editor Alejandro Vesga.
Design, architecture and creativity
This October, CASA SEAT once again contributes to the city’s cultural agenda with two outstanding events that celebrate design and the creative spirit of Barcelona: Disseny en Diagonal, within the framework of Barcelona Design Week, and the 48 Hours Open House.
On 19 October, local surfer Hugo Ortega will be the star of the Disseny en Diagonal week at CASA SEAT, with an event entitled “Riding the wave”. On this occasion, the circuit of associated venues, showrooms, shops and unique spaces along Avenida Diagonal will present a special programme centred on water, under the slogan “The Ocean Speaks: New sea-based ecologies and economies”. During the event, Hugo will be sharing his passion for surfing and how he has managed to excel in the sport on a global level. There will also be an exhibition of his boards and personal belongings, offering visitors a unique insight into his connection with the sea.
CASA SEAT is also participating in the 48 Hours Open House Barcelona, opening its doors for the public to explore the architectural design and history of the space. During the weekend, visitors will get an in-depth look at all the architectural and design details that make CASA SEAT an icon in the heart of the city. As part of the experience, access will be given to the private areas of the building that are normally closed to the public. In addition, visitors will have a chance to participate in an exclusive raffle to admire the collection of historic SEAT and CUPRA cars.
