  • The new SEAT MÓ 125 Performance achieves two Guinness World Records™ titles after covering more than 2,500 km in 48 consecutive hours
  • The SEAT MÓ team doubles the distance of the previous world record with over 1,430 km in 24 hours, while journalist Valerio Boni reaches 1,158 km after 24 hours riding solo, all using the same eScooter
  • A great demonstration of quality, endurance and performance for the new SEAT MÓ 125 Performance, which will be unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan on the 8th of November to make the leap from the racetrack to the city

The SEAT MÓ team successfully faced its biggest challenge to date at the Zuera International Circuit in Zaragoza (Spain). A single SEAT MÓ 125 Performance unit managed to break two Guinness World Records™ titles in 48 consecutive hours, after more than a year of developing and testing the electric scooter and preparing for the record attempt.

The urban eScooter swapped the city streets for the racetrack to test its performance and quality during an extreme endurance test - two consecutive days of riding to see how many kilometres it could cover in 24 hours in two different formats: relay team and solo. The result: 2,588 kilometres in 48 hours, approximately the equivalent of the distance between Barcelona and Helsinki (Finland) in a straight line. This new model will be unveiled to the public at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan (Italy) on the 8th of November.

Lead by Quim Martínez, Quality Manager of SEAT MÓ, and Dani García, Micromobility Chief Technical Officer, the SEAT MÓ team wanted to showcase the excellence of its new electric urban scooter, and the two world records it set confirmed its quality and versatility. Fully covered in camouflage so as not to reveal its appearance until its presentation at the EICMA, this record-breaking eScooter “will soon be seen on the streets” says Lucas Casasnovas, Managing Director of SEAT MÓ. “Urban and sporty at the same time, resistant and agile in any circumstance, the excellent performance of the SEAT MÓ 125 Performance in both record-breaking feats is the result of continuous, painstaking work in R&D and Quality to further develop the product since the launch of the previous version two years ago” he adds.

Doubling the record. The SEAT MÓ 125 Performance smashed the record in the 24-hour relay test. It covered 1,430.558 kilometres, more than double the distance of the previous Guinness World Records™ title. Five experienced endurance riders took turns racing every time the battery was changed every 50 minutes or so. The members of the relay team who took part in the challenge were Ivo Viscasillas, who is also a member of the Complete Vehicle division in the SEAT S.A. R&D department, journalist Judit Florensa and racers Cristian Marín, Miquel Viñola and Jordi Gené, who swapped a race car for the SEAT MÓ 125 Performance for this special occasion.

The next 24 hours going solo. For Italian journalist Valerio Boni, who rode the same SEAT MÓ 125 Performance as in the relay record, this wasn’t the first time he had raced for 24 hours to achieve a Guinness World Records™ certificate, but it was the first time he had done it with an electric vehicle. He covered 1,158.72 kilometres after 24 hours of solo riding, with short stops to change batteries just over every hour and occasional 40-minute breaks. As he first tested the motorbike, Boni knew that he had a chance of breaking an individual record with the SEAT MÓ 125 Performance, and that’s exactly how it turned out. When he finished, all he could say about its performance on the track was that it was “simply perfect”

From the racetrack to the city. The strict guidelines for setting or breaking a Guinness World Records™ title mean that certification is no easy task. That’s why getting two in just 48 hours is a feat that very few can accomplish. It took a lot of preparation, great teamwork and close collaboration with partners and companies such as Öhlins, Andreani, Shad, Galfer, Blunik and the Zuera International Circuit. “These two Guinness World Records™ titles demonstrate the reliability of electric technology and specifically of the SEAT MÓ 125 Performance, which we will soon be presenting at the EICMA international motorcycle show” explains Casasnovas. “We’ll be attending this major two-wheeler event for the first time with great optimism, after having achieved a milestone which had never before been achieved by an electric scooter” he concludes.

Save the date. On the 8th of November, SEAT will unveil its new SEAT MÓ 125 Performance at this year’s EICMA show in Milan (Italy). The Guinness World Records™ new title holder is more powerful, more dynamic and even more appealing for urban riders.
